Drafts publishes reflective student writing.
That being said, we publish each and every piece that we receive, assuming they meet our guidelines.
- Advice pieces are not accepted; writing should be attentive rather than instructional
- Pieces do not need to be polished, resolved, or explanatory
- Graphic detail is discouraged
- Submissions should not encourage harm to self or to others
- Any form is welcome! Submit essays, fragments, notes, reflections
- Anonymity is welcome
How to Submit
To submit a piece to Drafts:
- Send your writing as a Google Doc or PDF to draftssubmissions@gmail.com.
- In the email, include
- the title of your piece (or choose to leave it untitled)
- the name you’d like to be published under, or if you’d like to stay anonymous
That’s it! There is no deadline and no required word count.
Submissions are read carefully by our team and will be guaranteed publication if they meet the guidelines above.
Writers may ask for their work to be unpublished at any time, without reason.
we sometimes share a question for anyone who needs somewhere to begin. submissions do not need to respond to it.
current question: When did being “fine” become automatic?
